Marital Expectations
Probably each and every person goes into their marriage with many expectations for what married life will be like. Some of those expectations were modeled to us by our parents or by older couples we admire and look to as role models. Before we marry we can probably identify some of our expectations but many are so ingrained in us that we have no idea even what they are.
Expectations can certainly be a good thing. But what happens when your expectations don’t jive with the expectations of your partner? What happens when most or all of those expectations aren’t met? Is that a bad thing?
marriage resources such as the new Marriage 101: Back to the Basics course can help head off potential problems and disappointments in your marriage. In fact, the whole first lesson in this course is called Marital Expectations and it is designed to help couples have realistic expectations about their relationship.
Wouldn’t you rather deal with your expectations before marriage than to be unpleasantly surprised and perhaps severely disappointed later? You may even be surprised to find out what some of them are!
